Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica
Located on the Osa Peninsula, Corcovado National Park is touted as one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth with a large variety of animals including jaguars, ocelots, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, tapirs and a myriad of birds. The national park encompasses wetlands, rainforest and beaches so it has something for everyone. Camping within the national park is not allowed however there are a lot of options available on the outskirts.
Denali National Park, Alaska
Encompassing Mt Denali, the highest mountain in North America, Denali National Park in Alaska has over 30 different species of mammals and over 160 different bird species. There is only one road that goes through this national park which means that it is untouched by human intervention for the most part. Activities such as mountaineering, hiking, fishing and photography are popular as well as winter specific activities like snowmobiling, mushing, sledding and cross country skiing. Denali National Park is one of the only places in North America where you can see Aurora Borealis light up the night sky.
Mt Cook National Park, New Zealand
Located on the South Island of New Zealand, Mt Cook National Park is home to Mt Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand which stands at 3754m. Aoraki, as it is called by New Zealanders, has a wide range of activities including hiking, camping, fishing, 4WDing as well as winter only activities for the colder months, you can even go heli-skiing on Tasman Glacier. Camping within the National Park is available so you will be able to enjoy the night sky as you never have before.
