Keeping kids occupied during long flights

Overseas travel can be a great experience for every member of the family, even the smallest ones will bring home memories they won’t forget. But sometimes going somewhere amazing, means travelling to far-flung regions of the world – which means long flights.  So how do you keep children of all ages occupied and happy on long-haul flights to get them to your dream destination? Here are a few handy tips:

Pack a plane bag

Put together a selection of activities, games and toys for every child.  Some ideas are colouring books, lego, new books, travel board games and dollar shop toys.

Snacks

Snacks, snacks and more snacks.  Make sure you have an assortment of snacks as in-flight food may not be available when the little ones start to get a bit hangry.

Screen time

Rules for screen time need to be thrown out the window when travelling.  Load their favourite movies, television shows and games on a tablet or your phone.

Ask the airlines

Some airlines have special activities or items available for travelling kids, like colouring books, iPads or activity packs.  They will love to show off their new plane toy when they return from holidays.
